OLD MODS NEVER DIE

Nice to see two of our favourite bands are still out there doing it. That's right the TWO TONE PINKS AND FAST CARS. Still got it!!

Horseshoe pass gig

Steve Jones.

One gig you've forgotten about (or perhaps don't want to mention) is the Horseshoe Pass Free Festival ... possibly the weirdest concert in pop history! Maybe once a year I drive past the old "Pondarosa" on the way back to Wales, and it always makes me laugh. I mean, who but RUN229 would play at a free festival on the top of a Welsh mountain in the rain?

Oh, and the Speke Hotel gig, where we lucky to get out without having the tyres slashed. Or the gig in the Lache! The blues brothers were nothing compared to us.

RUN 229 The only Mod Band that played an open air Hippy festival on a welsh mountain, in the hope of converting a few longhairs to the cause. To make a good day great we were busted by the drugs squad in the Van on the way back. They didn't find anything though cause one of the band (we won't say who) swallowed it.

MESSAGE FROM RAY

Hi I am ray, is it true I used to play in a band called run229?  The doctor tells me I am a farmer in my suppression sessions.
I seem to remember being made to ride on the roof of the van on the way home from gigs. This typewriting is fun!
The thing is udsgjsdrghvs no no get off me__________.

You're a sick man Ray!!

You were actually not made to do this but you insisted on being strapped to the roof

Nick Carr possible siting

Nick was last scene in the late 80's on his way to Scarboro with his girlfriend of the month Dee (who was a shoe maker) He left behind two lines of speed and has never been scene again. Rumours about his whereabouts are legendary. It was thought that in his effort to get away from the band he disguised himself as an Elizabethan antique coffee table and spent years in the Lounge/dining room of a Liverpool Dentist names Frank Clifford. He was sold at auction recently but his new buyer a Miss Smith of Birkenhead realised something was wrong when she saw her new purchase was wearing Dark glasses and Dreadlocks. No further sitings have been scene.

SMALL WORLD

One of the best bands we ever played with. I remember their version of the Monkey's 'I'm a believer' but the best part of the gig was the Party afterwards in a Museum!! I think they had left by then.

Dizzy Holmes from DETOUR RECORDS
