By fluke I came across your website via a French one (The Modpoppunkarchives) I remember a few gigs around the Central and the Clwyd but at the time as a young punk I was probably a bit too narrowly focussed on my music to appreciate yours. As time goes on we realise just how good some of the bands we seen were. It was a great spirit though regardless of genre.
Hello Run229 thanks for the mention of Two Tone Pinks in the guest book. I seem to remember we played with you in Holywell many years ago. happy days. Regards a Two Tone Pink
I can remember going to gig at Holywell assembly hall. Waiting for the first time to see our local band RUN 229 and from the Mods mayday 79 LP, Small hours. I remember pestering Steve Eaton for his pink plastic sunglasses all through the gig. At the end of the act he threw them to me but some other bas**ard got them instead!!
I had mixed emotions that night, should I go the 5 miles from Flint to Holywell and watch the up and coming mod bands, or go 5 miles in the opposite direction to Queensferry and watch The Clash at Deeside leisure centre. I went to Holywell, did I make the right choice.....................................Mmmm
Thanks Alfred, Soho is a very special song and was written over 30 years ago in Manchester Airport while i was waiting for a plane. The original song was without violin but this was added when the band played on ITV television on a show called what's on. I'm glad that you like it and it is so important to us that a new generation is discovering our music. Best of luck; John
Well since I'm only 20 (and I live quite far from England), I simply couldn't see any mod gigs but when I first heard the compilation 100% British Mod, I knew that's the thing I need. That was like 5 years ago, and I can say Soho's one of the many songs I can thank who I am today. I hope I can buy Mod-eration in the future. Cheers from Hungary, Alfred
Great stuff finding another great "mod" from way back when the music was good and the bands were the best, can't wait for the cd to hear more of your tunes.Stan the mod
